Biography

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In Gbarnga, Liberia, my friends and I were representing our school at a high school talent competition. One of the schools had written an original song and was a favorite to win. I brought out a song I had composed and told no one about. And since... What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Fela Kuti, Unknown Soldier Salif Keïta, Best of Salif Keïta Youssou N'Dour, The Guide (Wommat) I find similarities in my life with Fela's. Not because a government attacked my home, but because my life was disrupted by men carrying arms and manipulating others to do the same. Womma is a master piece musically. Salif Keita has a great voice. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Stay alive” I wrote Stay Alive after I saw the hypocrisy and double standards in the world. A crime in one part of the world is perceived differently in our part of the world. Every life or situation isn't equally equal. "To Stay Alive, we must listen." What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I wrote an anti-rape song after the civil war in Liberia to educate people about the dangers of rape. A national tour followed to spread the message in collaboration with the UN Mission in Liberia. It was a great experience. Music breaks boundaries. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to find, produce, and mentor up-and-coming artists from Africa. I want to collaborate with more musicians from around Africa and other parts of the world. I want to use my music to make Liberia, Senegal, Africa, and the world better.
