Guillaume Boni

Biography

This French composer dedicated works to the reigning monarch including Charles IX and Henry III. His music was mostly syllabic and occasionally chromatic. Boni's harmonies were predominantly modal and the meters most often balanced. He rarely set poems to music that had previously been done. Boni's compositions include sacred sonnets, Psalms of David and motets, and secular sonnets with referents to personal or mythologicl themes. ~ Keith Johnson
