Sir George Benjamin - Composer in Residence of TIMF 2026

조지 벤저민 경은 영국 출신의 세계적인 현대음악 작곡가로 파리음악원에서 올리비에 메시앙에게 사사했다. 이번 통영국제음악제에서는 19세에 작곡한 플루트 작품 ‘비행’ 외에 ‘동이 틀 무렵’(1982), ‘세 개의 인벤션’(1995), ‘작은 언덕으로’(2006) 등 조지 벤저민 경의 다양한 작품 세계를 만날 수 있다. Sir George Benjamin is a world-renowned contemporary composer who studied under Olivier Messiaen at the Paris Conservatoire. At the Tongyeong International Music Festival 2026, audiences will encounter a wide range of his works, including ‘Flight for solo flute (1979)’, composed at the age of 19, as well as ‘At First Light’ (1982), ‘Three Inventions’ (1995), and ‘Into the Little Hill’ (2006), offering a broad view of his diverse musical world.
