Inside TIMF 2026: Face the Depth

2026 통영국제음악제가 ‘깊이를 마주하다’(Face the Depth)를 주제로 3월 27일부터 4월 5일까지 통영국제음악당에서 총 26회의 공식 공연으로 관객을 맞이한다. 이번 음악제는 영국의 현대 음악 거장 조지 벤저민 경이 상주 작곡가로, 우리 시대 최고의 바이올리니스트 중 한 명인 아우구스틴 하델리히와 비보이와 모델로도 활동하며 스타일의 경계를 넘나드는 카운터테너 야쿠프 유제프 오를린스키가 상주 연주자로 참여한다. 특히 이번 음악제는 초연곡을 선보이며 관객에게 새로운 음악적 경험을 제공한다. 조지 벤저민 경과 함께, 통영국제음악제 예술감독이자 세계적으로 인정받는 작곡가 진은숙 등 현대음악 거장들의 명곡이 무대를 장식한다. 아울러 바로크와 고전 오페라 아리아에서부터 다양한 시대를 아우르는 다채로운 프로그램이 준비되어 있다. The 2026 Tongyeong International Music Festival, themed “Face the Depth,” will be held from March 27 to April 5 at the Tongyeong Concert Hall, presenting a total of 26 official performances. This year, British contemporary music master Sir George Benjamin serves as Composer-in-Residence, joined by one of the leading violinists of our time, Augustin Hadelich, and the genre-defying countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, who is also active as a b-boy and model. The festival features numerous world premieres, offering audiences fresh and immersive musical experiences. Major works by Sir George Benjamin, along with the work by by Unsuk Chin, the festival’s artistic director and internationally acclaimed composer, and other leading figures of contemporary music, will be presented. In addition, the program spans a wide range of repertoire, from Baroque and Classical opera arias to works representing multiple eras, providing a rich and diverse musical journey.
