Evan Chambers

Biography

Composer and traditional Irish fiddler Evan Chambers is an associate professor of composition and the director of the electronic music studios at the University of Michigan. His compositions have won numerous honors, including first prize in the Cincinnati Symphony National Composers' Competition, and the Walter Beeler Memorial Compostion Prize, which he won in 1998. His works have been performed by the Cincinnati, Kansas City, Memphis, and Albany Symphonies, and he is a resident composer with the new music ensemble, Quorum. A recording of his compositions, as performed by Quorum, Cold Water, Dry Stone, was released by Albany Records in 2001. ~ Stacia Proefrock
