Saul Chaplin
Biography
Composer/lyricist Saul Chaplin first met lyricist Sammy Cahn in the dixieland band, the Pals Of Harmony. They became fast friends and would proceed to write 10 songs a day together in the classic Tin Pan Alley style. The pair had their first hit in 1934 with "Rhythm Is Our Business," a smash for the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra. The duo's many feats of enduring melodic genius include "If It’s The Last Thing I Do" and "Please Be Kind." Chaplin relocated to Hollywood, working as composer-arranger and/or musical director on the legendary movies ranging from ON THE TOWN to WEST SIDE STORY.
