Composer Julia Wolfe teams with Bang on a Can All-Stars and the Choir of Trinity Wall Street to create a multi-discipline retelling of Pennsylvania coal miners’ plight at the turn of the 20th century. Based on personal interviews, historical documents and local mining lore, this 2015 Pulitzer Prize in Music winner uses elements of classical, rock and folk to create a mesmerising work brimming with passion and athleticism while connecting labour history to the current day.
