L'amour est un oiseau rebelle ("Habanera") [Carmen, Chorus]
Pure Maria Callas
December 2023 marks the centenary of the birth of Maria Callas, one of the 20th century’s greatest operatic icons. The Greek soprano brought an unrivaled vocal and dramatic presence to the world’s stages and left behind a valuable legacy of studio and live recordings. This introduction to the singer includes arias from operas most closely associated with Callas, including selections from Bizet’s Carmen, Puccini’s Tosca, Verdi’s La traviata, Bellini’s Norma, and many more. A superb survey of a consummate vocal artist.
