Nicolas Chédeville

Biography

A French composer who played the oboe and musette for the Paris opera. His compositions include sonatas, dances, amusements, and compositions for the hurdy-gurdy. Chedeville's compositions show no great merits other than the transcriptions of many pieces for the musette. Some of his musical titles were suggestive of military campaigns in which he was present. Chedeville also manufactured the musette in such a manner as to make it easier to play. ~ Keith Johnson
