Trio Shaham, Erez, Wallfisch bring together three top-flight players. Hagai Shaham (violin), Arnon Erez (piano) and Raphael Wallfisch (cello), each a fine soloist in his own right, play with a rare sense of communion and shared purpose, making for a chamber programme of distinction. Schumann’s First Piano Trio and Dvořák’s Fourth, very different beasts, are played with a wonderfully vocal style—the long melodies singing out gloriously. The moments of introspection are equally intense: Grieg’s little “Andante con moto” is a sheer delight. It’s warmly recorded too.
