Seppo Pohjola

Composer Seppo Pohjola has gone through modernist and neo-Romantic phases in his career, increasingly often creating works that cannot easily be classified as one or the other. Pohjola has turned to traditional large classical genres, including the symphony, string quartet, concerto, and opera during the later part of his career. His works have been widely recorded by leading Finnish ensembles. In 2023, the New Helsinki Quartet issued an album of Pohjola's Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh String Quartets.
