Jacques Gallot

A member of the French family of lutenists who studied with Ennemond Gaultier. "Pieces de luth composees sur differens modes" (Lute pieces composed through the different modes) includes a number of different minuets and settings that foreshadow the suite. His compositions contained incomplete tablatures and musical representations that were motivated by the presence of members of the court. ~ Keith Johnson
