Barbara Schlick
Biography
Barbara Schlick's early training and performance career were extremely concentrated, both geographically and stylistically. After studying in her hometown at the Würzburg Hochschule für Musik, she trained with Lohmann in Wiesbaden and Hilde Wesselmann in Essen. Focusing on Baroque and Classical music, she has performed the works of many composers, including Albinoni, C.P.E. Bach, Eybler, Handel, Hasse, Keiser, Mozart, A.J. Romberg, A. Scarlatti, Telemann, and, most widely, J.S. Bach. Broadening her experiences, she toured throughout the world, primarily in Europe and North America, as a soloist in the Adolf Scherbaum Baroque Ensemble, the Monteverdi Choir of Hamburg, and with Paul Kuentz and his orchestra, among other groups. A reduction in touring allowed Schlick to return to her hometown, where she teaches at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik. Her voice is primarily heard on the Capriccio, Erato, and Virgin Classics labels.
