La Folia Barockorchester

Biography

Germany's La Folia Barockorchester describes itself as "having the real guts for ancient music." This historical instrument group is based in Dresden and often performs little-known music from the Dresden court in the Baroque era. La Folia Barockorchester was formed in Dresden in 2007 by Robin Peter Müller, who remains its concertmaster and artistic director. The orchestra devoted an album, Rediscovered Treasures from Dresden, to a group of anonymous manuscripts found in a cabinet behind the organ of the Dresden Hofkirche. In 2014, the group released the album Antonio Vivaldi: Concerti Furiosi. The group's collaborators make up a distinguished list, including soprano Dorothee Mields and viola da gamba player Hille Perl. In 2024, it backed bassoonist Sophie Dervaux on an album of Vivaldi bassoon concertos.
