Hans von Constanz

Biography

This German organist and composer is primarily known for his "Fundamentum". It is both a theoretical treatise as well as a compendium of arranged vocal music. The theory contends with methods for fingering, tablature reading, and reading music. The arrangements were written for the purpose of familiarizing the reader with techniques for scoring organ and vocal music. A third part of the "Fundamentum" includes numerous compositions for the church service; particularly, introits, a gradual, responses, hymns, mass sections and a Magnificat. ~ Keith Johnson
