John Amner

John Amner studied music at Oxford receiving a Bachelor's degree and later a degree from Cambridge as well. He contributed a great number of sacred songs to the English repertoire with pieces demonstrating the then constant syllabic style as well as later pieces employing antiphny, counterpoint and melisma. Amner had a talent for blending text and music and perfromance. ~ Keith Johnson
