Irwin Bazelon

Biography

Bazelon studied at De Paul University and with composers Bloch and Milhaud. His compositions are mainly for orchestra and chamber groups, and he was especially known for his works for brass and percussion. Propulsions (1974), a concerto, is considered an important part of the percussion repertory. Bazelon also wrote for the theater, cinema, and television and was the author of a book on film music. ~ Lynn Vought
