A doctorate of philosophy and theology Gussago composed some sacred vocal music but was primarily informed by instrumental music based on Brescia. He was a master of the chapel at St Maria delle Grazie and a sonata from 1608 contains parts for single and double choirs characterized by their homophonicity. His music was rarely ornamented and the church music was predmoninantly arranged for the double choir. ~ Keith Johnson
