Gerald Cohen

The music of composer Gerald Cohen blends modern classical styles with Jewish idioms. Cohen has written songs and chamber works but also attempts larger forms on occasion; he has written three operas. Cohen's work has gained attention both within and beyond the U.S. and is well represented on recordings. In 2024, Opera Colorado recorded Cohen's opera Steal a Pencil for Me, a love story set in a World War II-era concentration camp.
