Georg Dietrich Leyding

Leiding demonstrated early an ability for music. He was able to study organ with Bolsche in Brunswick near his home in Bucken. After studying with Bolsche he also studied with Reincken and Buxtehude. He worked as the substitute for Bolsche before the later's death and filled Bolsche's position after Bolsche died. Accordingly, Leiding held two oragn positions at St Ulrich and St Magnus. Noted for his organ compositions, only five of his works are extant including three preludes. Pedal virtuosity was the hallmark of Leiding's compositions. ~ Keith Johnson
