Giovanni Antonio Piani

Piani studied the violin at the Conservatorio della Pieta dei Turchini and served the Admiral of the French Fleet in Toulouse, and in the imperial court in Vienna. While in Toulouse he published six violin sonatas for two violins and continuo and six sonatas for flute or violin with continuo. The important aspects of these compositions are the copious details he scribed for these works including dynamic markings, fingering, bowing and embellishments. ~ Keith Johnson
