Bernard de Bury

Biography

French composer who was favored by Marie-Antoinette and eventually enobled by Louis XVI. He composed not only for the Paris Opera but also for the dauphin's wedding and other festive occasions. Bury's compositions were praised for their modernity, agreeble melodies, and ease for the dance. Most of Bury's compositions were for the dance, and, his orchestral arrangements demonstrated great finesse for the instruments.
