L’orchestre du Centre national des arts d’Ottawa explore les thèmes de la migration et des frontières avec deux œuvres de compositeurs venus de l’ancien monde, créées une fois leurs valises posées outre-Atlantique. Écrite à New York par le compositeur tchèque Antonin Dvořák, la Symphonie n°9 « Du Nouveau Monde » est l’occasion d’une interprétation passionnée. Sous la direction d’Alexander Shelley, l’orchestre magnifie la pièce d’Ana Sokolović, Serbe contrainte à l’exil : sa cantate Golden slumbers kiss your eyes…, composée à Montréal, enchante par ses emprunts au folklore européen.
