En 1925, Alban Berg signe avec Wozzeck une œuvre d’avant-garde, considérée comme le premier opéra atonal du XXe siècle. Cet enregistrement de 2013 capture la richesse des interprétations du baryton Roman Treckel, magistral en soldat sombrant dans la folie, et de la soprano Anne Schwanewilms, brillante en cruelle Marie. Outre leur talent, l’inventivité du compositeur viennois dans l’utilisation des structures musicales fait écho aux émotions des personnages, allant du trouble à l’aliénation, dans ce récit inspiré par la pièce Woyzeck, de Georg Büchner.
