Las versiones estadounidenses de la Octava de Mahler son todavía infrecuentes y esta, a cargo de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Utah (53 años después de su primera versión), destaca por la participación del famoso Coro del Tabernáculo Mormón. La riqueza de su interpretación llega al oyente a través de una magnífica grabación. El Mahler de Thierry Fischer no es tan emotivo como pudiera serlo el de Bernstein, sino más directo y lineal. Con excelentes solistas, una orquesta en plena forma y, por supuesto, la grandeza de su coro, esta es una versión para no dejar escapar.
