The Budapest Film Orchestra, Eliot James, Tom Hobden
2017
Seeking more opportunities for orchestral string-writing than pop and rock have afforded them, Noah & The Whale violinist Tom Hobden and Kaiser Chiefs producer Eliot James employ a classical language to create a highly appealing album. Across 14 tracks, they explore the variety of sounds available from a traditional symphony orchestra. There are obvious nods to musical greats including Britten, Barber and Vaughan Williams in pastoral vein, as well as to today’s more spiritual masters such as Arvo Pärt.
