Girolamo Cavazzoni
Biography
An Italian composer predominantly of keyboard music. The musical types Cavazzoni composed included masses, magnificats, ricercares, and hymns. As an organist his abilities were highly lauded having taught the son of the organ builder in Mantua (Santa Barbara). Cavazzoni also supervised the rebuilding of the organ in Mantua. (Many of the descriptions of Cavazzoni and his works are attributed to the names Girolamo d'Urbino or Hieronymo d'Urbino.) ~ Keith Johnson
