Biography

Andree received her early education from her father and later studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. In 1867 she became the organist at the cathedral in G"teborg. Her compositional style was influenced by the Leipzig school and the Scandinavian nationalism of her time. In addition to organ works she composed for piano and orchestra, as well as an opera that was never performed. Andree was active in the movement for women's rights. ~ Lynn Vought
