Jean-Jacques Beauvarlet-Charpentier

Biography

Charpentier, an addition to the Beauvarlet sir name, was used by Jean-Jacques in the publication of his compositions. He was a talented organist whose most worthy compositions were sonatas for harpsichord and piano supported by violins. He had an ability with the classical style both through contrived tensions via protracted endings and metrical spirit. Beauvarlet's organ performances were the "cause de celebre" until his latter performing days; it was during this period that he attempted themes from comic operas which were insipid at best. ~ Keith Johnson
