Eyvind Alnaes

Biography

Eyvind studied at the Leipzig Conservatory and served as organist at the Drammen and Oslo Cathedrals. He helped to found The Norsk Komponistforening and was a member of The Koralbokkomiteen. He was responsible for harmonizing many of the melodies in the Norwegian Church's chorale book as well as editing the preludes to the chorales. He received the King's Gold Medal and the Order of St. Olaf award for his efforts. His early compositions are in late-Romantic style but later works have impressionistic elements. His best works are vocal, both for solo voice and chorus. ~ Lynn Vought
