Adam Schoenberg

Well-Known Works

Biography

The works of American composer Adam Schoenberg have been among the most often performed in the U.S. in the mid-2010s. Schoenberg is a member of the Atlanta School of contemporary composers championed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and conductor Robert Spano. Like that of other members, his music is accessible and vividly evocative without being backward-looking. Even while studying at Juilliard, Schoenberg began to attract significant commissions. Finding Rothko was performed by the IRIS Orchestra in 2007 and earned the Morton Gould Young Composer Award from ASCAP. Other important compositions include Up! (2010); American Symphony (2011); Bounce (2013), inspired by the composer's infant son, Luca; and Stars (2016). Schoenberg's works have been performed by more than two-dozen major American orchestras. ~ James Manheim
