On this release, the group’s ingenious pianists (and cellists) give us a taste of how well their unique arrangements work in a live setting. The audience’s reaction to the introduction of “Let It Go” proves how talented The Piano Guys are at working a crowd—and how easily they can move from a pop melody into a selection from Vivaldi’s catalogue. (Here, it’s a bit from the composer’s Four Seasons—the “Winter” quartet.) It’s by seamlessly juxtaposing such disparate genres that this classical crossover group puts a charge into both traditions.
