Friedrich Jaecker

Friedrich Jaecker is a German composer and pianist whose activities span performance, composition, and scholarly writing. Since the 1990s, his compositions have involved sparse, concentrated musical material, free use of dissonance, and constant registral shifts in a kind of minimalist approach influenced by Scelsi, Feldman, and his teacher Ligeti. As a pianist, he performs his own music alongside the composers he has championed. His recordings as a composer include two albums of ensemble works from the '90s simply titled "Friedrich Jaecker," one on the Talking Music label (1998) and the other on Cybele (2001); and paradis (2019), featuring Bagatellen and Studien alongside Harry's Dream. In 2026, he participated in Morton Feldman: Complete Works for Multiple Pianos on Wergo, the first complete recording of these pieces.
