Maksym Berezovsky

This Russian tenor and composer studied in Kiev and sang in St. Petersburg with instruction in both voice and composition by Galuppi. He also studied composition in Italy; shortly thereafter, Berezovsky composed the opera "Demofoonte" which was performed in Italy. This is of special note because Berezovskys' was the first opera composed by a Russian ever performed in Italy. The most important works, however, remain his sacred works for the Russian church. The most famous composition by Berezovsky was an arrangement of Psalm 71. ~ Keith Johnson
