Mary Kouyoumdjian

American figure Mary Kouyoumdjian calls herself "a composer and a documentarian." Her ancestry is Armenian, and her grandparents and parents have lived the lives of refugees. Kouyoumdjian's works deal with the situations of refugees from various cultures. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2024 with her work Paper Pianos, she saw her music released on the 2025 Kronos Quartet album Mary Kouyoumdjian: Witness.
