Jehan Erart

The majority of Erart's songs were chansons and pastorelles. He had a strong tendency toward metrical lines with five or eight syllables to the measure. All of his known pieces were homorhythmic throughout. Simple melodic structures dominate the landscape of Erart's works and, with what evidence there is, he appears to have leaned toward modality. ~ Keith Johnson
