Martin Iddon

Composer Martin Iddon has a second career as a musicologist who has written several books about John Cage. He is also an important educator. Iddon's own music is influenced by that of Cage, and several of his works have been recorded. Iddon's music has been performed across Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, and Australia by such contemporary music-oriented groups as Ensemble SurPlus, Distractfold, ekmeles, and the Kairos Quartett. He has issued several albums of his own, including pneuma (2014), Sapindales (2021), and Naiads (2022). The album Martin Iddon: Hesperides, featuring three of the composer's large compositions, appeared on the NMC label in 2025.
