Omaha Symphony

Biography

Beyond its substantial subscription series, the Omaha Symphony Orchestra is active in its region through its educational and community outreach programs, appearing in upwards of 200 functions annually. Founded in March 1921, the symphony offers a variety of programs ranging from standard works of the Western classical repertoire to Pops programs, music from movies, and more. The orchestra also boasts a history of commissioning and premiering newly written works by such notable composers as Joan Tower, Michael Daugherty, and Andy Akiho, and it sponsors a New Music Symposium through its affiliated Omaha Symphony Guild. The Omaha Symphony's music director is Ankush Kumar Bahl.
