Oliver Davis: Solace

You’d be forgiven for thinking that recording an orchestral album at the height of 2020’s international lockdown might not be the easiest thing to do. But thanks to technology, it was not only done, but done amazingly well. The making of Solace saw musicians playing in their home countries and joined by the strings of the Budapest Scoring Orchestra. Here, British composer Oliver Davis triumphs again: Gentle in style, the collection delivers his magical combination of lush harmony, heart-warming melody and a mood of consolation.
