Biography

Born into a musical family, Frederick Loewe studied piano as a child and appeared with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra as a teenager in. In 1924 he moved to New York where he excelled as a songwriter and began a fruitful collaboration with lyricist Alan Jay Lerner. Together they produced some of the most enduring productions in Broadway history, most notably BRIGADOON, PAINT YOUR WAGON, and MY FAIR LADY. They also went on to create the beloved Hollywood film GIGI (1958), composing the films most memorable tunes.
