Queen Elisabeth Competition 2015 winner Ji Young Lim demonstrates her superior musical credentials in three violin sonatas by Mozart and one by Beethoven (his Op. 12). This is music of delicious balance and poise, and Vitali’s chaconne—a work of huge emotional range compressed into small space—makes a superb encore. Perfect intonation, graceful phrasing and a fine feeling for the scale of this music make for highly appealing listening. With the violinist stylishly partnered by pianist Dong Hyek Lim, this is an elegant and noteworthy recorded debut.
