Francesco Petrini

Biography

Within the Petrini family of harpists and composers, Francesco was perhaps the most talented. He studied with his father and surpassed him quickly. Petrini served as a chamber musician in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin court in 1765 and in 1769 he went to Paris. While in Paris Petrini made his debut at the Concert Spirituel and published sonatas arranged for harp and violin. His compositions included sonatas, concertos, duets and a number of collections of airs. In 1795 Petrini published a book on harp method and also published other books concerning harmony. ~ Keith Johnson
