The majority of Lauffensteiner's lute compositions were suites containing between eleven and thirteen different courses or pieces. Most of his music was composed in a singing style. He was highly regarded by his contemporaries. In 1709 Lauffensteiner settled in Graz and by 1712 was in service to the Bavarian court. He taught the princes how to play the lute and other instruments. Because of his distinguished service he was appointed the chamber counsellor (Hofkammerrat) in 1739. ~ Keith Johnson
