George Frederick Pinto

Biography

The compositions of this young Englishman demonstrate an ability that was never completely realized because of his abbreviated life. Five piano sonatas and three violin sonatas were composed by Pinto and they could easily be compared with a mature Schubert and understood as an anticipation of Beethoven. As a violinist he studied with Salomon and was presented as a prodigy. Pinto gave concerts in London and the courts outside of London. Before his death he had also composed violin duets and songs and advocated the music of Bach. ~ Keith Johnson
