Antoine Mahaut
Biography
A well traveled musician Mahaut spent time in Amsterdam, Paris and Dresden. Around 1760 he fled creditors in Amsterdam and retired to a monastery in France. As a flutist Mahaut's technique was highly advanced and acclaimed. The orchestral compositions were also well-structured and astute. Genres of his works included symphonies, concertinos, concertos for the flute, flute sonatas, flute and violin duets or sonatas, as well as some vocal scores and a theoretical work for the flute. ~ Keith Johnson
