Theodore Chanler

Biography

Chanler studied at the New York Institute of Musical Art, with Bloch at the Cleveland Institute, at Oxford University and with Boulanger in Paris. He was a critic for the Boston Herald and taught at the Peabody Conservatory and at the Longy School in Cambridge, MA. His compositions are polytonal and contain lyrical melodies. His best works are in small forms and he is remembered for his songs. ~ Lynn Vought
