Per Nørgård
Biography
Per Nørgård was often regarded as the most important Danish composer since Carl Nielsen. He devised a unique theoretical principle called the infinity row, resulting in works related to serialist procedures but with clear structures that continued to draw audiences into the 21st century. Nørgård was a prolific figure, writing music in many genres, including film scores and six operas. Recordings of his works, dating from the late '40s to the mid-2010s, are abundant. Nørgård died in Copenhagen on May 28, 2025, at age 92.
