Countertenors are often revered for exquisite, delicate singing—and Scholl's recordings offer plenty of that. But he also brings powerful projection into his craft—an attribute which made him a star in the '90s. He has performed both Bach Passions while notching successes on the operatic stage, often in operas by Handel.
