Edward Bairstow

Well-Known Works

Biography

A church organist, Bairstow was also influential in northern England as a conductor of choral groups and as an instructor of singing and composition. His compositions are mainly church pieces influenced by Brahms, some in plainsong style. He was a master craftsman in composition and his works are expressive, but not overly personal. ~ Lynn Vought
