Sorcerer (Music from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

This 1977 soundtrack kicked off Tangerine Dream’s long career in film, and it’s as spellbinding as you’d expect, spanning both the German group’s creepiest soundscapes—like the opening “Main Title,” whose eerie drones are sure to give you nightmares—and hypnotic, pulse-driven synth jams like “Search” and “Rain Forest,” which show off the group’s enveloping sequencer work. The closing “Betrayal (Sorcerer Theme)” brings it all together in a throbbing finale of evil arpeggios and pitch-bending leads: a throwback to sleek retro-futurism at its most sinister.
